The large Buddhist temple in Zhangye was very interesting. There was a museum behind it and then a wooden pagoda. This was all close to a lovely town square. These are so vital to the lives of the people. They exercise and/or dance there in the mornings, walk their dogs and even their birds (yes, birds, in lovely cages), socialize and shop.
